  • Friday 21 January 2022 Roots of Empathy Programme Elder Class will be participating in a programme called Roots of Empathy this year. This programme teaches children about feelings, their own feelings and the feelings of others. Once every three weeks, a baby and their parent(s) visit the classroom to meet the children. A trained Roots of Empathy Instructor gathers the children in the classroom around a green blanket, and together they watch the baby grow (this may include observing the baby breast or bottle-feeding and having their nappy changed).

  • Friday 19 November 2021 Year 4 Early Man Assembly Well done to Year 4 staff and students for their wonderful sharing assembly. They took us right back in time to the stone age, explaining with such clarity and humour the developments made by early man through the bronze and iron age which still impact on how we live today. It was very informative and entertaining.

  • Friday 19 November 2021 Rabbi Visit Rabbi Roni visited Reception this week. The children enjoyed learning about the story of Hanukkah and listening to Rabbi Roni sing prayers before lighting the menorah! They loved watching a demonstration of the lighting of the candle. The children had lots of questions and talked about the similarities between Hanukkah and the Hindu festival of light.

  • Friday 5 November 2021 Black History Month Projects At Rushmore, we are in the process of reviewing our curriculum to ensure we areproviding our children with a rich, relevant and representative curriculum.We want children to embrace, respect and be proud of the community in which they live and to develop a strong sense of belonging. We have looked for opportunities throughout the year and through all curriculum areas to acknowledge and celebrate the contribution and achievements of individuals and groups from all cultural, racial and religious heritages.
  • Friday 5 November 2021 Dream Libraries Workshops On Monday 18th October, Immediate Theatre (a community arts organisation based in Hackney) came in to deliver some workshops on the theme of 'Dream Libraries'. They were supporting Hackney Council on a project called 'Our Libraries', which involves acompetition that lets students have their say on how Hackney’s libraries might be improved.
  • Friday 22 October 2021 Year 5 Bike Training 24 of our Year 5 children took part in cycle training this week. They cycled every day and received their level 2 cycle proficiency awards. The instructors were very impressed with their focus and skills. Well done!
  • Friday 22 October 2021 Rushmore Staff Talent Yinka , our wonderful Year 2 learning support assistant, treated all the children to an awe inspiring display of his BMX skills this week. He shared his you tube videos, did a Q & A session about his journey to being such a BMX super star and finished with a jaw dropping live demonstration.
  • Friday 22 October 2021 Football Success The boys and girls football teams took part in their first football tournament on Wednesday and played 20 other Hackney schools. Both teams reached the final with the girls team only conceding one goal! All of the children thoroughly enjoyed the day and were very pleased with their silver medals.
  • Friday 22 October 2021 Year 5 Sharing Assembly On Wednesday 13th October Year 5 classes treated parents to a very entertaining assembly about Ancient Egypt. There was singing, dancing, lots of interesting information and some gory removal of organs! All this was delivered with a generous serving of humour. Well done Year 5!
  • Friday 15 October 2021 Springfield Park Hill Climb Well one to our Year 4, 5 and 6 students who represented Rushmore at the first event in the Hackney Schools' Cycle League last Friday. The first event was a hill climb on bikes in Springfield Park. The children did an amazing job, demonstrating great enthusiasm and determination as they battled up the very steep hill! Congratulations to Umi who won a gold medal and Pepa who won a silver medal. We will be taking part in monthly events so watch the news items space for more updates.
  • Friday 8 October 2021 RE Calendar Selection Well done to Elijah, Isabella and Lyla, whose beautiful art work has been chosen to feature in the Hackney Schools' RE calendar.
  • Friday 8 October 2021 Year 2 School of Food Visit Last week Year 2 visited the School of Food to make a Diwali inspired celebration meal. First we made tasty Haraa Paneer Tikka skewers. Tom the Chef taught us some knife safety skills and we made lots of noise using a pestle and mortar! To go with the paneer we made a delicious cooling raita and we even fried our own naan breads! The best part of the day was when we got to eat our delicious feast!
  • Friday 8 October 2021 Keeping Clapton Clean Thanks to the Year 1 and 2 pupils who have been out litter picking around Chatsworth Road and Millfields Park this week and last. It is great to see our children taking responsibility for their local environment and being great Hackney citizens. Look out for the Year 3s who will continue this good work next week.

I'm sure you will agree they are all very grown up now and definitely ready for the big move to reception classes. We wish them the best of luck for next year whether here at Rushmore or in a new school. They have been super stars!

  • Tuesday 6 July 2021 Getting Match Fit Some of our year 6 pupils attended Arsenal Emirates Stadium this week for a celebration ceremony after completing the Arsenals Getting Match Fit 8 week, Well-being programme! Well done Cody, Rares, Cassidy, Reuben and Zayd!!
