  • Thursday 13 February 2025 Year 3 Victorian Day This week Year 3 celebrated Victorian Day and Year 3 Rowan also went to the Hackney Museum to learn about what life was like during the Victorian times.

  • Friday 7 February 2025 Debate Mate Urban Debate League Round 1 On Thursday 6th February, 24 Debate Mate children attended the first round of Debate the Urban Debate League. The year 6's showed off their brilliant, developing debating skills and made many fantastic points in their debates. Well done!

  • Friday 31 January 2025 Reading Champions Last week, two of our Reading Champions, Shaifa and Indi, went to Hackney Town Hall to talk about the great work they have been doing and their plans for 2025!
  • Tuesday 22 October 2024 Year 4 on The Lea Year 4 went canoeing and litter picking on the River Lea last Friday. They also took part in a workshop about waste and learnt lots of interesting facts.
  • Friday 18 October 2024 Year 5 Visit the British Museum On Monday 14th October, Year 5 visited the British Museum. They explored the Ancient Egyptian exhibit looking at a wide range of different artefacts including canopic jars, sarcophagi and mummified animals. They even came face to face with a real life mummy!

  • Monday 30 September 2024 Year 5 River Lea Field Trip On Monday 30th September, Year 5 went on a Making walking tour of the River Lea to understand how a river may change. They learned about how erosion and deposition affect the bend of a meander in a river.
  • Tuesday 24 September 2024 Year 1 Harvest Their Produce Our Year 1 pupils were delighted with their successful harvest when they returned to school in September.
  • Tuesday 10 September 2024 Amazing Work from the Art After School Club Sarah Bagner, a Rushmore parent and very talented creative has been running after school art clubs for the reception and Year 3/4 children this year. The quality of the work they are producing is incredible so we wanted to showcase it in a gallery for everyone to enjoy.
  • Friday 17 May 2024 Sporting News The cycle league team in years 4 and 5 went to the Hackney Downs Grass Track on the 9th May. The children had to compete around a short oval track on fixed wheel bikes. They competed in a number of short races, which were of differing formats. All of the children did very well, special congratulations to Winter who came second place in her race! Rushmore are now in 3rd Place overall in the league, with two events remaining.
  • Friday 3 May 2024 Herbie and Purdy's Show Debate On Wednesday 24th April, Herbie and Purdy were invited to present a very special show for Debate Mate investors. They had to arrive at school extremely early (7:15am!) to travel into The Ivy Soho Brasserie, where the show debate was being held. Luckily, Debate Mate had pulled out all the stops and they were treated to taxis both ways and cinnamon rolls with hot chocolates upon arrival. There were over 30 Debate Mate investors watching the debate and both Herbie and Purdy did the school extremely proud. Their debates were well written, their rebuttals were insightful and their POIs (points of information) even got a few laughs out of the investors. At the end of their debates, both Herbie and Purdy were met with ruptures of applause and cheering. It was clear to see they had made an impression on the investors.   • Wednesday 24 April 2024 Year 4 Orchestra Concert Both Year 4 classes enjoyed a trip to the Hackney Empire this week, as the culmination of their year-long project with the Apollo Orchestra. Following 6 workshops, in which visiting musicians played live classical music to each class, Elm and Spruce classes were very excited to see now-familiar faces performing on stage in a full symphony orchestra, performing a beautiful and inspiring rendition of Schumann's Spring Symphony. Thank you to the parent volunteers who made the trip possible!
  • Wednesday 24 April 2024 Earth Day 2024 Ms Taylor and the Eco Committee planned a fantastic day of events on Monday 22nd April to mark World Earth Day.
  • Tuesday 19 March 2024 World Book Day 2024 A HUGE, HUGE thank you to all the children, parents, carers and staff who made World Book Day 2024 such a positive celebration! We were blown away by the effort put into all the costumes - well done!! Another big thank you to all of our visitors: Sav Akyuz, Alice Birch, Madeline Brettingham, Davina Hamilton, Stepanie Von Reiswitz, Adam Steiner and Hannah Smith. The children were treated to an array of workshops/talks and we are so thankful for their time, effort and energy!
  • Monday 26 February 2024 Year 5 at the natural History Museum Last week, year 5 visited the Natural History Museum as part of their Climate Crisis topic. They explored sections linking to the making of the world and climate change. They also went on a hunt to identify the crystals linked to their different houses. The day included a brilliant Lego workshop, where they were able to come up with their own coral reef saving design. We were very impressed by their engineering skills and creative ideas.
  • Friday 23 February 2024 International Mother language Day Thanks to Ms Harrill and the upper phase children who organised a wonderful assembly on Wednesday to mark International Mother Language Day. International Mother Language Day is a worldwide annual observance held on 21st February each year to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism. It was a joyful, proud and informative celebration of the incredible diversity of our student community. Thanks also to all the parents who supported the event by sending children to school in clothes which linked to their families countries of origin. I'm sure you will agree that they looked fantastic.
  • Thursday 1 February 2024 Hackney Schools' Gala Concert and Mayor's Music Award: Rushmore musicians are award-winning!
  • Thursday 1 February 2024 Year 2 Visit The Tower of London Year 2 visited the Tower of London and participated in an exciting workshop about the Great Fire of London! We had the opportunity to explore the white tower filled with amazing armoury as well as the crown jewels. It was an incredible day with lots of fascinating discoveries.
  • Friday 26 January 2024 Year 5 at The Greenwich Observatory Year 5 went to Greenwich Observatory on Monday. After a long walk, up a very steep hill...they took part in a fascinating workshop in the planetarium. They were able to choose their own path and explore planets of their choosing. They were also able to explore the North Site full of old telescope and navigation equipment (linked to the astronomy). We were all amazed by some of the time telling techniques of the past.
  • Friday 26 January 2024 Year 1 at The Postal Museum Year 1 had a brilliant time exploring the Postal museum this week. We travelled under London on the Mail Rail and roleplayed being postal workers in the sorting office.
  • Friday 19 January 2024 Year 4 Apollo Orchestra Trip Year 4 had a brilliant trip this Tuesday to London's busy West End, where they enjoyed a classical music concert run by the Apollo Orchestra. Both classes are working closely with musicians from the orchestra over the course of the year, meeting and listening to live string quartets, brass quartets and wind quartets, plus seeing the whole orchestra perform in two fantastic concerts. Thank you to the brilliant parent helpers who made the trip and the travel possible!
  • Friday 19 January 2024 Reception Get a Special Visit Cherry Blossom and Apple Blossom classes had a wonderful treat this week in their music lessons - inspiring author (and Rushmore parent!) Davina Hamilton came in to read us her new book, Riley Finds His Beat. The children loved the story, and had so much to say on the subject of working hard at a new skill, and not giving up... Plus they had a great time exploring the parts of the drum kit afterwards!

  • Friday 15 December 2023 House Afternoon Fun Well done to Spinel, who were the winning house this term. They had an afternoon at the cinema watching The Muppet Christmas Carol. Meanwhile, back in school, the hard work of all the other houses was rewarded with a fun packed afternoon decorating cookies, dancing and taking part in a workshop with The Wiggly Wild Show who introduced them to some very interesting animals.
  • Friday 15 December 2023 Winter Fair Our festive events got off to an amazing start last week with another very successful Winter Fair. The turnout was great and a really big thank-you to all those who ran a stall, cooked food, painted faces, organised and helped in anyway.
